Fondant Cake Decorating

K so lately I have been into that reality cake decorating show(I can't remember what it's called) and because of it I've had this burning desire to learn how to do 'Fondant cake decorating. We had a Christmas Party to go to and I was in charge of the dessert so I decided now would be the perfect time to test it out. They make it look SO easy on T.V. Well I'm here to tell ya it's not... at least for me anyways. My hands are stained red and my kitchen looks like a bomb exploded but it was SOOOO much fun....I may take this up a serious hobby and maybe next time it won't take me THREE hours. If anyone knows a good recipe for fondant will you please let me know. This may look good but the fondant I used tastes like GaRbAgE. The cake inside is killer(butter cream) but who wants to eat poo to get to the good stuff ya know?!

I love that show! Its called Ace of Cakes by the way! I would love to learn how to do that so I am totally in if you want to do classes. I have even looked in to going to baking school at the culinary school! And your cake is so cute so now I really want to do it!

What a cool cake! I've always wanted to try fondant too, but I haven't had the courage to do so yet :P. I bet with practice, though, you'll be a pro in no time!

Cute Keelee!!! I'm way impressed. I for sure do not want to know how to decorate cakes, so count me out of that one. I'll just eat your creations.

You are a baking goddess! Congrats! Sometimes I buy premade wilton fondant at michaels and it is already colored. I don't think I have ever had fondant that tastes that great. It mostly just looks good, but let me know if you find one that is yummy and will change my mind. That bow is incredible! Happy Holidays!

WOW Keelee I'm impressed! I might have to hire you for my next wedding (just kidding). But seriously, I might have to hire you for an event or something. I have always wanted to learn how to do the same thing. I hope you are doing well. Merry Christmas

Hey. I don't think the fondant was that bad...it was a really cute cake so that made up for the bad tasting fondant. It was good to see you Saturday. Thanks for always being so cute and so nice! You are awesome!

How fun! Ace of Cakes is actually one of mine and Randy's favorite shows, Duff is hilarious! I have to agree with others that have posted, I've yet to taste a yummy fondant, usually you take it off and then cut up the cake...which seems like a total waste, huh?! I love Marzipan and if you like the taste of it too(Randy hates it and says it's just us crazy Germans that like the flavor of it, but who knows) I'd recommend that next time you cover a cake because then you can just cut right into it and eat it, marzipan and all! Who cares what the cake tasted like anyway though, it looks GORGEOUS! Good job!
